Just before dawn - Porcupine quilled floral earrings

I took my quills out for the first time in four years just to create these for you. I hand washed, sorted, dyed and stitched these porcupine quill flowers before surrounding them in size 13 Czech charlotte beads and size 17 Japanese 24k gold-plated beads.

These earrings are backed with hand brain-tanned and smoked deer hide, also referred to as Indian-tanned. Brain-tanning leather is a very laborious and CHEMICAL-FREE process of preparing hide that takes several days to complete. The result is very soft and strong suede that far surpasses the quality of chemically tanned hides without the toxic chemicals.

The details:
The earrings are about 2 inches long (5 cm) and 2 inches at its widest point.
They are wire wrapped into sterling silver ear wires with single Swarovski crystals, so there’s no worries about them slipping off.
I only used recycled Sterling because we don't need to exploit the earth to look good ;)
